Documentary that tells the story of the inspiring, thriving, Scottish village of Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. Twenty-five years ago, the local community pulled together to buy the land from private owners, securing its future for them and the many who travel there. At the heart of the village is the community-owned pub, The Old Forge. But for those who wish to visit, it's a 30-mile, three-day trek through three munros, or a ferry from the mainland. In the summer months, only around five people a day take the high road to get there, for the incomparable hike and views. They well and truly deserve their pint when they arrive! We follow friends Ally and Glynis as they take on the treacherous journey to Scotland's remotest pub, interwoven with stories from some of the residents of this magical peninsula. One of them, Will, visited for a weekend 13 years ago and never left, such is the draw of this place that is known as Scotland’s last great wilderness.

In 1984, 58-year-old Mary McLaughlin was found dead in her home in Glasgow. She had been strangled with the tie of her dressing gown. Mary was last seen walking home from the pub at night, with an unknown man following her. Despite the best efforts of the investigating officers, they couldn’t identify the unknown man and the trail would run cold for decades. In 2014, advances in DNA profiling gives new hope to cold cases. Police Scotland detectives and forensic scientists reinvestigate the case, sampling items preserved from the original crime scene to try and find Mary’s killer. A DNA hit leads to a potential suspect, but even more questions arise when this person appears to have an ironclad alibi. The case won’t be solved by forensic science alone, and detectives need to go back to basics and hunt in the archives for clues to figure out who killed Mary. In this documentary, we hear from both the original 1984 investigators as well as contemporary Police Scotland detectives and forensics team who cracked the case.

Ian Hamilton and his guide dog Major visit the town of Alloa in Clackmannanshire. Nestled beneath the Ochil Hills and famous for brewing and glassmaking, Alloa sits on the River Forth, which in the past made the town vital for connecting Glasgow to mainland Europe for trade. Alloa is clinging on to its traditional industries, with one brewer and one glassmaker left in the town. However, Ian finds plenty of interest in this busy community as he takes on a judo champion, visits a successful business on the high street, and hears about some dramatic paranormal events in the area. Ian and the crew also get the opportunity to try some delicious handmade tablet, and Ian grabs the chance to take part in a tasting at Alloa’s last remaining brewery.

Sanjeev Kohli takes a humorous look at how films have shown Scots, the Scots character and stereotypes, celebrating some of our most memorable onscreen moments. Are we really as mean, parochial and up for a fight as the movies often make us out to be? Sanjeev examines which Scottish stereotypes have a whiff of truth and which ones should be fed to the Loch Ness Monster. Packed with great film clips from both famous classics and lesser-known cult gems, the programme features contributions from an impressive supporting cast list, including actors Kate Dickie, Clare Grogan, Gary Lewis, Denis Lawson, Alex Norton and Tam Dean Burn. From popular adaptations of Kidnapped and Rob Roy to war dramas such as The Great Escape, from the wily islanders of Whisky Galore to the dark urban humour of films such as Shallow Grave, we look at what stories these films have told the world about us, and what these characters can teach us about ourselves. We eavesdrop on tourists taking in the sights with an Outlander tour, drawn to visit Scotland through our most expensive ever drama production, and we celebrate an unexpected staple of Scottish cinema: Scottish men crying.
