Jack Docherty brings together a jam-packed cast of comedians, actors and famous faces for a riotous celebration of Scotland's most valuable export – its sense of humour. Scotland is a small nation with a big funny bone. It's known the world over for self-deprecation, quick-witted patter and deadpan asides. But what makes it so funny? To find out the answer, this programme delves deep into the BBC Scotland archives to find a century’s worth of classic characters, catchphrases and comedy clips. A line is drawn from the early days of Scottish comedy on TV from the McFlannels, Stanley Baxter and Lex McLean through to the modern generation of quickfire online sensations. The medium may have changed, but the essence of the humour remains the same - colourful language, authenticity, irreverence and flair for creative insults. Joining Jack will be some of Scotland’s most iconic comedy talent such as Elaine C Smith, Alex Norton, Karen Dunbar, Lawrence Chaney, Brian Cox, Alan Cumming and Forbes Masson.

Gordon Buchanan takes an epic journey across the Gobi Desert on one of the world’s most iconic, yet least understood, animals – camels. Starting in the west of Mongolia, Gordeon crosses blistering sand dunes, endless rocky plains and the treacherous Bumbat Mountain, with only his camels for company. If he is to succeed, he must befriend the camels, learn as much as he can about them, and try to win their trust and respect. Without that, the journey and his survival are in question. Naming camels isn’t something that nomads would do, but as his relationship with them strengthens, he decides to name them Squeaks and Chewy. They are lucky enough to meet some of the other inhabitants of this seemingly desolate landscape, such as wolves, saiga antelopes and yaks. But will he be lucky enough to catch sight of the most endangered bear on the planet – the Gobi Bear? Spending time with different nomads also gives Gordon time to reflect on the appeal of the traditional nomadic way of life, and his own modern existence. Ultimately, he discovers how camels have evolved in the most unusual ways to survive and prosper in one of the most hostile environments on the planet.

When your nickname is Jaws, your reputation goes before you. Joe Jordan struck fear into opposing defenders with his full-blooded approach to football. Graduating with flying colours from the school of hard knocks at Elland Road in the 1970s, where he won a league title, Joe starred for Manchester United, before leaving a tangible legacy with Italian giants AC Milan. However, his performances and goals for Scotland on the biggest of stages are what have cemented him as an icon of the game. The only Scottish player to have scored in three World Cups, Joe sits comfortably among the elite of the game. He reveals how he made the most of the ability he had to forge a top-class career in the game, and how the grounding he got in the intense Leeds dressing room would help shape the career of future footballing greats such as Franco Baresi and Mauro Tassotti. Joe also reflects on the lifelong friendship he made with the late, great Gordon McQueen, and how McQueen’s death from dementia has made him reflect on a career heading footballs. Featuring contributions from Fabio Capello, Mauro Tassotti, John Giles, Hayley McQueen and Graham Hunter.

A centenary celebration of the life and legacy of Rikki Fulton, one of Scotland’s most beloved comic actors. Ashley Jensen narrates an affectionate tribute to one of Scotland’s funniest comedians, Rikki Fulton. It’s 100 years since Rikki first made an entrance on to the world stage and 20 years since he bowed out. His influence is still felt in new generations of comics, and clips of his sketches still make us laugh to this day. This programme tells the story of his extraordinary life by bringing together the people closest to him and the people he inspired. It delves deep into the vaults with the help of some never-before-seen home movie footage to discover the story of the real man behind the genius and showcase the best-loved moments of his career - from his iconic long-running characters such as Francie and Josie, IM Jolly and Supercop to the one-off sketches such as Terrible Burns and The Driving Instructor. In this 75th-anniversary spectacular from Edinburgh Castle, the theme The Heroes Who Made Us is celebrated with familiar favourites, some great surprises and an array of international talent, introduced from the esplanade by a storyteller for the first time. The Massed Pipes and Drums, Tattoo Fiddlers and Highland Dancers provide an impressive showcase of the very best of Scottish culture against a backdrop of stunning imagery that captures 75 years of the tattoo and includes a celebration of Edinburgh’s 900th anniversary. The Army’s Massed Military Bands entertain with an expansive musical repertoire, and the Orchestra of Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the US Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps make their tattoo debut. Also joining the international line-up are the Representative Band of the Polish Border Guard, the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team and Swiss precision drummers Top Secret Drum Corps. A climactic choral piece and the lone piper precede a dazzling finale to the show. Commentary is provided by JJ Chalmers and Jennifer Reoch, and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s patron, HRH the Princess Royal, shares her passion for the event.

Ian Hamilton and his guide dog Major visit the town of Alloa in Clackmannanshire. Nestled beneath the Ochil Hills and famous for brewing and glassmaking, Alloa sits on the River Forth, which in the past made the town vital for connecting Glasgow to mainland Europe for trade. Alloa is clinging on to its traditional industries, with one brewer and one glassmaker left in the town. However, Ian finds plenty of interest in this busy community as he takes on a judo champion, visits a successful business on the high street, and hears about some dramatic paranormal events in the area. Ian and the crew also get the opportunity to try some delicious handmade tablet, and Ian grabs the chance to take part in a tasting at Alloa’s last remaining brewery.

By order of the Traitors, you’re invited to a spine-tingling concert hosted by Claudia Winkleman at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Inspired by our favourite murder mystery game’s tense and haunting soundtrack, the concert features melodramatic versions of pop tunes heard on The Traitors, from Britney Spears’s Toxic and Olivia Rodrigo’s Vampire to Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy, all given a signature gothic, symphonic twist. There are also dramatic classical favourites, including O Fortuna from Carmina Burana and Lacrimosa from Mozart’s Requiem, plus an exclusive new take on the series’ famous theme tune written by composer Sam Watts. Conjuring the misty intrigue worthy of a Highlands castle are the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers, as well as special guest vocalists. And Claudia keeps everyone on their toes by asking the packed audience to help find the traitors hidden in their midst. With famous faces from past series, as well as scary characters from the challenges, this is a musical invitation into the world of The Traitors for all fans – whether you’re a Faithful or a Traitor.
