For many farmers, summer means one thing - show season - and the Royal Highland Show is the highlight in the calendar. The Barclays boys are showing pedigree Beltex and their finest Suffolks before going head-to-head in the Young Handlers competition. It’s also a major event for budding young farmers Rachel and Camy, who, for the first time, are showing only animals raised on their own farm. Hopes are pinned on their Cheviot lamb Patch to prove she’s every bit as good as Camy predicted. And in Moray, Nikki and Ollie are preparing a show of their own. They’re opening up their farm gates to give the public a taste of what they’re all about.

Wildlife film-maker Gordon Buchanan gets close to seven incredible huskies on a treacherous dogsled adventure through Canada’s spectacular Yukon wilderness, gaining a new appreciation for dogs and our place in nature. Gordon arrives in Canada’s vast Yukon wilderness to try and master the ancient skill of dog sledding. Inspired by Jack London’s novel The Call of the Wild, it has been Gordon’s childhood dream to command a team of dogs out in the Yukon wilderness and follow in the footsteps of the historic Klondike Gold Rush explorers who used this trail. Gordon meets Pierre-Luc Fortin, expert musher and owner of 29 loyal Alaskan huskies, and is introduced to his seven-sled dog team.

Gordon Buchanan takes an epic journey across the Gobi Desert on one of the world’s most iconic, yet least understood, animals – camels. Starting in the west of Mongolia, Gordeon crosses blistering sand dunes, endless rocky plains and the treacherous Bumbat Mountain, with only his camels for company. If he is to succeed, he must befriend the camels, learn as much as he can about them, and try to win their trust and respect. Without that, the journey and his survival are in question. Naming camels isn’t something that nomads would do, but as his relationship with them strengthens, he decides to name them Squeaks and Chewy. They are lucky enough to meet some of the other inhabitants of this seemingly desolate landscape, such as wolves, saiga antelopes and yaks. But will he be lucky enough to catch sight of the most endangered bear on the planet – the Gobi Bear? Spending time with different nomads also gives Gordon time to reflect on the appeal of the traditional nomadic way of life, and his own modern existence. Ultimately, he discovers how camels have evolved in the most unusual ways to survive and prosper in one of the most hostile environments on the planet.
